CopyKitten Discord Bot – Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 23, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how CopyKitten (“the Bot,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our Discord bot. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data with transparency and care.

By adding CopyKitten to your Discord server or interacting with it, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the practices described in this policy, please do not use CopyKitten.

1. Our Commitment to Your Privacy

At CopyKitten, your privacy is paramount. We understand the sensitive nature of voice data and are committed to clear, transparent, and responsible data handling. A core principle of CopyKitten is that we do not store raw voice recordings once the voice cloning process is complete and the voice model has been successfully generated.

2. Information We Collect

To provide our services, CopyKitten collects certain types of information.

  • 2.1. Voice Data for Cloning (Temporary Processing):
    • When you, as a Voice Donor, provide your voice for cloning, CopyKitten temporarily processes a recording of your voice.
    • Crucially, once the voice model (Voice Clone) is successfully generated and verified, the original raw voice recording is immediately and permanently deleted from our systems. We do not retain these raw recordings.
  • 2.2. Voice Clones (Processed Voice Models):
    • After the voice cloning process, a synthetic voice model (the “Voice Clone”) is created. This Voice Clone is a digital representation of your voice, derived from the raw recording but not the recording itself.
    • These Voice Clones are stored to enable the Text-to-Speech (TTS) functionality of the bot.
    • Voice Donors retain full control over their Voice Clone and can request its permanent deletion at any time via the bot’s designated commands.
  • 2.3. Discord User and Server Identifiers:
    • We collect your Discord User ID (a unique identifier for your Discord account) and the Discord Server ID(s) where CopyKitten is used.
    • This information is necessary for the bot’s core functionality, such as associating Voice Clones with the correct Voice Donor and user, managing permissions, and enabling server-specific features.
  • 2.4. Text Input for Text-to-Speech (Ephemeral):
    • When you use a Voice Clone to generate speech from text, the text you input is processed in real-time to create the audio output.
    • This text input is not persistently stored by CopyKitten after the speech is generated, unless required for immediate debugging purposes (which would be temporary and anonymized where possible).
  • 2.5. Command Usage Data:
    • We may collect anonymous and aggregated data about how commands are used (e.g., command names, frequency of use). This data does not identify individual users and is used solely to understand bot usage patterns, improve functionality, and identify potential issues.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • To Provide Bot Functionality: To enable the core features of CopyKitten, including creating Voice Clones, allowing users to speak in those voices, and managing consent.
  • To Maintain and Improve the Bot: To ensure the bot operates smoothly, fix bugs, optimize performance, and develop new features.
  • For Security and Enforcement: To detect and prevent fraudulent, abusive, or malicious activity, and to enforce our Terms of Service.
  • Customer Support: To respond to your inquiries, provide technical support, and address any issues you may encounter.

4. How We Store and Protect Your Information

  • Data Storage: Voice Clones and associated Discord IDs are stored on secure servers.
  • Security Measures: We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes, but is not limited to, encryption, access controls, and regular security reviews.
  • Data Retention:
    • Raw Voice Recordings: As stated, these are immediately deleted after successful Voice Clone generation.
    • Voice Clones: These are stored until the Voice Donor explicitly requests their permanent deletion.
    • Discord User/Server IDs and Command Usage Data: These are retained for as long as necessary to provide the bot’s services, maintain functionality, and for legitimate operational purposes (e.g., analytics, enforcing Terms of Service), or until you request their removal where applicable.

5. Sharing Your Information

  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, including Voice Clones, to third parties.
  • We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
    • With Your Consent: If you explicitly consent to the sharing of specific information.
    • Legal Requirements: If required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order or government agency).
    • Service Providers: We may use third-party services (e.g., hosting providers) to operate the bot. These providers are bound by confidentiality agreements and are only permitted to process data as necessary to provide their services to us.
    • To Protect Our Rights: To protect the rights, property, or safety of CopyKitten, our users, or the public.

6. Your Rights

As a user of CopyKitten, you have certain rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to Access: You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to Rectification: You have the right to request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
  • Right to Deletion (Right to Be Forgotten):
    • Voice Donors have the absolute right to permanently delete their Voice Clone at any time using the bot’s designated commands. Upon successful execution of the deletion command, the Voice Clone is removed from our systems.
    • You may also request the deletion of other personal data we hold about you, subject to legal and operational limitations.
  • Right to Object/Restrict Processing: You have the right to object to or request the restriction of processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Where we rely on your consent to process your information, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time.

To exercise these rights, please contact us using the information provided in Section 9.

7. Children’s Privacy

CopyKitten is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information as quickly as possible.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of CopyKitten after the effective date of the revised Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
